Nuts such as Cashew nuts, Almonds, Walnuts, Peanuts, Pistachios and Melon seeds are some of the popular nuts used by the larger segment of population all over the world.

These are the foods that are rich in natural fat and oils, therefore if not protected well during the storage then they can become highly vulnerable for lipid oxidation when exposed to the presence of oxygen that somehow penetrates into the packaging of these food items.

Nuts are the rich source of many vital nutrients and vitamins to humans, so when exposed to oxygen; vitamins like A, C & E are prone to get oxidized and consequently nuts can become devoid of these vitamins. Utmost care needs to be taken for the packaging of nuts so as to preserve them safely without losing the quality for longer durations.

Also, nuts are prone to get deteriorated by lipid oxidation, they must be preserved with oxygen absorbers which not only inhibits oxidation of lipids but also prevents the growth of mold, mildew and microorganisms. Growth of these microorganisms can further cause the physical and chemical changes in the nuts making them unsuitable for the consumption.

Since nuts are food items that are particularly considered to be dry when compared to the other food items and in dry conditions, the performance of oxygen absorbers is greatly reduced if oxygen absorbers manufactured for the general purpose are used in its preservation. Therefore, oxygen absorber for nuts packaging are the customized ones and only these should be used for providing better protection against the exposure towards the trapped oxygen from the surroundings.

These little oxygen absorber packets are made of a material that contains Iron Powder, Bentonite, Activated Charcoal, Sodium Chloride, Resin and Water. All these ingredients in combination make a perfect adsorbing base to trap the oxygen and moisture that somehow enters the food packets while packaging the product.

O2 absorbers are effective in bringing the oxygen level reliably down to 0.01% or less and safe to place on top of the food. They don’t harm the food that it is placed with because they are packaged inside the sealed pouches. Oxygen Absorbers are used to remove oxygen from within a sealed environment, creating a nitrogen environment that is helpful for the long-term storage of the food.
